Spain Is Popular With European Vacationers
The old adage for real estate is “location, location, location.” Costa Blanca real estate is ideal for those three reasons. European vacationers have been increasingly coming here for vacations, so you may want to buy property here. Here are some tips for buying property in Spain.
As with any vacation property, prices tend to be higher the closer they are to tourist attractions. To save money, search for property in areas away from busy cities. These properties will be very attractive as they are still near to the beach and everything else travelers want. Some may even prefer property off the beaten path for the privacy.
As you look, consider what you can afford to spend. Be sure to have funds available for taxes, upkeep, upgrading etc. Set a spending limit and stick to it so you won’t be caught short later. Better yet, be sure to spend well under that limit to allow for life’s emergencies. Some experts advise a 10 percent cushion for contingent expenses.
It is important to plan how you will use the parcel: Is it strictly a vacation or retirement home? Will you live in it full time or only on vacation? Will you rent it out? If so, how will you find and communicate with tenants? How will you maintain the site if you are not there? Do you plan to keep the property for a long time?
As you answer these questions, you can look at amenities offered to determine if they are what you need. Is ground transportation a problem? How far is the property from the airport, hospitals, churches, stores and other services? Which amenities are important to you: golf courses, beaches, playgrounds, stores, restaurants, nightlife, museums, and churches? Determine which of these are important in case your budget forces you to choose among them.
If you find a parcel on a resort or golf course, is there landscaping and housekeeping help available? These are great services to have, especially if you will not be on the property full time. Not only will they keep your property in top shape, they can also keep an eye out for problems with trespassers and tenants.
When you find a property you like, be sure to visit several times at different times of day. If possible, visit it both on and off season. You will be better able to determine if the property will appeal to you year-round.
Finding good real estate in Costa Blanca is easy: there are many reputable licensed real estate agents to help you. You can also find many great properties through local tourist bureaus and online. Be sure to hire an attorney well versed in Spanish real estate law to help you through the purchase process. International real-estate transactions can be tricky. As long as you are cautious, you will soon have a great investment in the Costa Blanca.
